Analyzer takes in a video of an actor’s facial performance and produces an .IMPD file for use in Retargeter™. It accomplishes this through the combination of simple user input on the front end, and complex computer vision algorithms on the back end.
The user “trains” Analyzer to learn about the actor’s specific appearance and performance and the software uses that information to analyze every frame of the video. Once the shot is tracked, Parameterizing the data will use computer vision technology to examine every pixel of facial data and export it to an .IMPD.
Faceware Analyzer is the latest release in the Faceware software suite that allows you to do the video analysis portion of the pipeline in-house, without ever needing to send a video off-site. FTI still offers video tracking as a service, but with Analyzer you have the ability to have your team run the analysis which lets you capture, analyze, and retarget animation all on-site.
At a lower cost per second, and with faster output and full schedule control, Analyzer is a huge improvement to the Faceware animation pipeline.

Facial Tracking Without Markers
Our technology is completely marker-less. There is no need to mark up an actor with facial motion capture markers or special make-up, making the setup process for your shoot simple, clean, and easy.

No Special Video Formats Required
Analyzer can take in almost any type of video format. Whether it was filmed on our Head-Mounted Cameras, a static video camera, or an iPhone camera, you can analyze it with our software. You also don’t need a special resolution or quality of footage. If you can see a face, it can be tracked with Analyzer. Build Global Actor Models
Export data from one video and quickly produce results on the next video of the same actor by building a Training Model. Our analysis technology uses a model-based approach, which allows the user to train the software about specific extreme frames of the performance. This information is reusable on subsequent shots in a production and result in extremely fast tracking as your model becomes more complete.

Drag Intelligently
The ‘Intelligent Drag’ feature increases productivity and consistency by intelligently moving all landmarks based on the position of the current point being moved. The more landmarks you place, the more accurate all the other landmarks get. This feature allows the user to markup the entire face by quickly moving only a small number of landmarks.

Work With Specific Frame Ranges
Analyzer allows the user to split up a job into multiple frame ranges, allowing them to train a specific model, and track only the ranges it applies to – resulting in a faster, and more precise analysis. You can also assign “valid” frame ranges to a shot, which tells the Analyzer to only process the frames you want instead of the entire thing.
